Stomach Flu and Diabetes

This is a cautionary tale and its not to educate on any big topic, but I got the stomach flu yesterday! It just made me realize again to tell you about what you need to do in case you get sick.

So especially for Type 1 diabetic's - you've got to be checking your blood sugar more often and you need to have a source of non carbohydrate fluid and a source of carbohydrate fluids. Even though I had fever, my blood sugar was low. It can go up and down drastically so you've got to test at least every 30 minutes and no further than every hour. Keep up with your doctor because as soon as they know that you've got diabetes and it's affecting blood sugar, your going to get quick action. That is my tip for today.

How have you dealt with your blood sugar when sick? Let me know in the comments!
